Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 – Your Alaska Coach & Rail Vacation Begins - Anchorage Welcome to Anchorage, the perfect way to start your Alaska train vacation! Spend the day at leisure appreciating this vibrant city with its unique frontier spirit in anticipation of the coming days exploring the surrounding wilderness. This evening meet your tour director and the other members of your group at a casual welcome reception.
Day 2 – Onboard the McKinley Explorer Train – Anchorage to Talkeetna
Board the McKinley Explorer train as your group travels to Talkeetna. Enjoy breakfast with your group onboard while you watch the landscape unfold in front of you. You’ll transfer from the train to McKinley Princess Lodge where you will spend the night.
Day 3 – McKinley Explorer Train - Talkeetna to Denali
You are back on board the train today as you travel into Denali National Park. Keep your eyes out for wildlife. Tonight after arriving in Denali enjoy the Cabin Nite dinner theater, where you will enjoy a delicious dinner and some great entertainment.
Day 4 – Experience Denali on Alaska Train Vacations
Enjoy an early morning breakfast with your group before you head out on your morning Tundra wilderness tour. Denali Park has a vast amount of wildlife, so watch for moose, deers and bears. You’ll have a free afternoon in Denali to choose from many of the additional activities offered, which you can purchase locally.
Day 5 – Cruise Portage Lake
Travel by comfortable coach today to Portage Lake where you will cruise within 300 yards of Portage Glacier. Return to the coach where you will then arrive in Aleyska in the late afternoon. The evening is free to do what you like, a trip up the Mt. Aleyska tram is highly recommended or perhaps just a relaxing evening with some new friends at the resort.
Day 6 – Kenai Peninsula - Seward
Travel to Seward where you will take another cruise. This time along the Kenai Peninsula coastline, looking for whales, sea lions, porpoises, sea otters, bald eagles, puffins and many more birds that live along the cliffs and rocky shores. After the cruise you will travel to Copper’s Landing where you will spend the night at Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge.
Day 7 – Explore Anchorage
You will return to Anchorage today where you will be treated to an afternoon tour of the city including admission to the Alaska Native Heritage Center. This evening say goodbye to your new friends and your tour director at a special farewell dinner as this is the last night together.
Day 8 - Depart Anchorage
With plenty of memories to take with you, say goodbye to Alaska as your escorted Alaska vacation comes to an end.

Nestled in a secluded forest setting just on the outskirts of Seward is the Seward Windsong Lodge. The lodge consists of several buildings, each with spacious and cozy rooms. The lodge offers complimentary shuttle service to and from the harbor, rail station and the SeaLife Centre.
