Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 - Anchorage ArrivalToday you will start your Alaskan journey by arriving in Anchorage and making your way to the hotel. Overnight in Anchorage.
Day 2 - Anchorage
Start your first day off by taking part in a 3-hr guided Anchorage sightseeing tour. Throughout the tour you will also visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Overnight in Anchorage.
Day 3 - Anchorage to Seward (4 hrs train)
At 6:45H this morning, depart on the Alaska Railroad to Seward, with an approx. 11:05H arrival. Once in Seward, transfer to hotel on your own and enjoy the change of scenery! Admission for the Alaska SeaLife Center and a 2 hr Exit Glacier Tour is included. Overnight in Seward.
Day 4 - Kenai Fjords National Park
Depart on a 6-hour wildlife and glacier cruise into Kenai Fjords National Park bright and early this morning. On your cruise, a variety of wildlife like Orca, sea lions, puffins and coastal glaciers will be a common sight! Overnight in Seward.
Day 5 - Seward to Talkeetna (7 hrs)
This morning, depart on a transfer by motor coach to Talkeetna. Early this evening, you arrive in Talkeetna. Spend the rest of the night exploring the old gold mining community, famous for its charm and being the main departure point for Mt McKinley climbing expeditions. Overnight in Talkeetna.
Day 6 - Talkeetna to Denali National Park (3 hrs train)
Enjoy a 2-hour riverboat tour on the Talkeetna River this morning, a great nature experience! Following the tour, continue on the Alaska Railroad towards Denali. Arrival in Denali in the early evening where you will overnight Denali Bluffs Hotel or similar.
Day 7 - Denali National Park
Enjoy a full day tour into the Denali National Park (55 miles/88km) today! The park, inhabited by lots of different animal species, is unlike any other. If you’re lucky, you may see bears, mountain sheep, caribou, wolves, moose, and a wild assortment of birds. The rest of day is at your leisure. Overnight in Denali Bluffs.
Day 8 - Denali to Fairbanks (4.5 hrs)
Enjoy the morning at your leisure before an afternoon transfer to train station by hotel shuttle. At 15:45H you will climb aboard the Alaska Railroad train from Denali Nat Park to arrive Fairbanks. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel on own (courtesy hotel shuttle available). Overnight in Fairbanks.
Day 9 - Fairbanks
Today enjoy a sightseeing tour of Fairbanks, featuring visit of a gold mining dredge, the historical downtown area, Alaska oil pipeline. A Sternwheeler riverboat tour is up next in the afternoon. Overnight in Fairbanks.
Day 10 - Fairbanks to Anchorage (1 hr flight)
Spend the morning relaxing or exploring! In the afternoon, a scheduled flight from Fairbanks will take you to Anchorage. (Option of a 12 hr train back to Anchorage)Upon arrival transfer to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the night. Overnight in Anchorage.
Day 11 - Anchorage departure
Today your Alaska by Rail and Road Trip comes to an end.
